Creating Youth Programs that Work
The Y.O.U.T.H Training Project (YTP) offers Technical Assistance for organizations that want to develop or expand programming, led or co-led by youth. With more than ten years of experience as a youth training program – conceived and run by current and former foster youth – we know how to develop, pilot, modify, and build capacity for youth programs. Case Study – With funding from the Zellerbach Family Foundation, YTP presented a Wellness workshop for Zellerbach grantees on how to incorporate wellness into youth programs—from eating healthy food to providing adequate professional skills support. Due to poverty, trauma, and poor health care, foster youth are more likely to have less physical and mental health than other youth, so wellness programming is critical to the success of any program working with youth.
